In 2020, I had the opportunity to design an original brand concept for Street Chef Shaw, a food truck with a unique offering of dishes that fuse together authentic Latin and African cuisines. Fast forward to 2022, I revisited this initial work to elevate it into a cohesive & complete rebrand. The goal was to maintain continuity between the old & new while refreshing the brand’s identity. I preserved what made Street Chef Shaw iconic from the start—the skull and Mexican culinary elements—but realigned the brand to more prominently feature & celebrate Kirel’s East African roots. The new logo became a powerful symbol of this fusion, combining the skull with a representation of Africa, effectively blending both cultures & cuisines. By 2023, this evolution continued as Kirel expanded his culinary presence by opening a storefront, "Mizizi by Street Chef Shaw," which has since become an iconic establishment within the Grand Rapids community.
